Intha M. Thornton

Intha M. Thornton, age 77 of Sanford, passed away on Tuesday September 23, 2025 at her residence. The daughter of the late Lewis W. and Mary T. Colbath was born in Rising Fawn, Georgia on May 10, 1948. Intha enjoyed collecting dolls, Indian artifacts, doing crafts, traveling to Florida, clogging, playing bingo, cosmetology, cake decorating, hosting many parties, cooking, baking and doing puzzles.

Surviving is her husband of 49 years, Michael Thornton of whom she married on October 6, 1976; children, Christopher Thornton and companion, Nicole, Shawna Hegland, Michelle (Wade) Wilkerson; grandchildren, Stephanie (Josh) Rives, Justin Wilkerson, Bailey Smith, Jenna Wilkerson, Isabelle Wilkerson; great grandchildren, Mason, Addisyn, Aubrey, John and Scarlett. In addition to her parents, Intha was preceded in death by mother and father-in-law, Arlean and George Thornton.

Funeral services for Intha will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Monday September 29, 2025 at Wilson MILLER Funeral Home. Family will receive guests at the funeral home on Sunday from 4 until 7:00 p.m. and on Monday from 2:00 p.m. until the time of service. Memorial contributions may be directed to American Arthritis Foundation.
