Mickey Dale Sparks, age 66 of Midland, passed away August 26, 2023 at his home with family by his side. He was born in Midland on July 18th 1957 to Betty (Clark) Wittbrodt and Art Sparks. Mickey was employed at Soaring Eagle Casino as a slot attendant. His colleagues were not just fellow workers, they were family. He inspired everyone, made you smile and laugh and was amazed of his courage and positivity
Mickey will be remembered for his willingness to help others at the drop of a hat. He was a volunteer with Crime Stoppers, a member of Project Blue Light and trained through Citizens Police Academy. Mickey also volunteered for Tall in the Saddle, Pinecrest Farms, Habitat for Humanity, Mid-Michigan Hospital, Mid-Michigan Hospice. For his community service Mickey received a tribute from State Rep. Gary Glenn, State Senator Tony Stamas, Governor Rick Snyder and U.S. Representative John Moolenaar.
He could often be seen in parades or at work dressed up in his many quality costumes.
He would be seen in parades driving his Slingshot or at events in Midland with all his specialty lights and American Flags that made the Slingshot a big attraction
Surviving is his mother, Betty Wittbrodt; siblings, Roberta (Marc) Engebretsen and Allen (Laura) Wittbrodt; nieces and nephews, Noah, Madison, and Crystal; aunts Judy Griffin and Ruth Witte; uncle Stanley (Becky) Clark’ special friends, Nan Spadacene, Denise Sisco, and Marie Smith; along with many cousins and friends. Mickey was preceded in death by his father Art Sparks; uncles Billy (Peg)Clark, Tony Griffin, Bob Witte, and aunt Pat Chapman.
Special thank you to his Mom Betty Wittbrodt who was by his side for 6 years while he was fighting cancer, and his special friends who helped him so much when he needed them.
A memorial celebration of life will be planned for a later date and will be announced by the family. The family would like to thank those at the Pardee Cancer Treatment Center for their support. Memorial contributions may be offered to Pardee Cancer Treatment Fund. Arrangements are under the care of Wilson MILLER Funeral Home.
