Linda May Schearer, loving wife, mother, and grandmother passed away September 11, 2023 in Tavares, FL at the age of 81. She was born in Midland, MI on June 12, 1942 to the late Clarence E. and Rozella M. (Wood) Syckle. She married Jerry Schearer on December 23, 1961 in Midland and have cherished 62 years together. Linda treasured being with her family and friends; nurturing them in faith, love, music/song, and embracing them in the love of our Savior.
Family and church were very important to Linda. She was very active in the Community of Christ as a Priest, Woman’s Leader, Youth Leader, Secretary, and member of the choir. Linda also loved to sing as a member of the City Coral Choir and often performed at a variety of funerals, weddings, churches, bands and concerts. Jamming on the piano and autoharp provided her with great joy. Linda was active in her HOA as Activities Director. She loved studying the Scriptures and attended many community bible studies. Linda enjoyed traveling and she was thrilled when she worked in the airline industry. When not creating wonderful music, she painted lighthouses on rocks, painted ceramics and made various artistic creations.
Surviving is her husband, Jerry Schearer; children, Angela (Tim) Dodson and Mary Beth Schearer; grandchildren, Trista (Emerson) Ziegler and Tyanna Dodson; and sister, Helen Syckle Rabbage; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and friends. In addition to her parents, Linda was preceded in death by her son, Jerry Dale II “J.D.” Schearer; siblings, Donald, Clarence, Earl, and Ruth Syckle.
Funeral and committal services will be held on Monday, September, 18th 2023 at the Wilson MILLER Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 11 am. until the time of service at 1pm.
