Lawrence H. Potts, age 90 of Midland, passed away Monday, June 26, 2023 at the Aleda E. Lutz VA Medical Center in Saginaw. He was born in Midland on April 26, 1933 to the late John A. and Eva J. (Howe) Potts. Larry served his country honorably with the United States Army and worked as a pipefitter for Dow Chemical. On May 19, 1956, he married the former Alice Jean Novak at Blessed Sacrament Church and they shared 67 years together before his death.
Together he and Jean raised their children, Kenneth (Laurie) Potts of Jenison, MI, Mary Jo (Mike) Witer of Beaverton, John Potts of Bay City, and Christopher (Jill) Potts of Lansing. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Lindsay (William) Baskel, Theodore (Desyree) Potts, Heidi Upchurch (Steven Elmer), Nate (Stephanie) Upchurch, Thomas Potts, Finn Potts, Jessica (Bryan) Partaka, Jason (Samantha) Witer, five great-grandchildren, Kennedy, Madelyn and Kaylee Baskel, Gloria Potts, and Abigail Witer; sister, Dorothy Card and brother-in-law Ed (Karen) Novak. In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by his brothers-in-law, Paul Card and Lawrence Novak and sister-in-law Agnes Novak.
The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at 11 am on Thursday, July 6, 2023 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Midland. Fr. Rob Howe will be celebrant and private burial will be in Great Lakes National Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday at the Wilson MILLER Funeral Home from 2 – 8 pm and on Thursday at the church from 10 am until the time of mass. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be offered to the Aleda E. Lutz VA Medical Center Palliative Care Department. Personal messages of condolence may be offered to the family at www.wilson-miller.com.
