Janis Marie (Bashaw) Bowman

Janis Marie Bowman, age 72 of Bannister, formerly of Midland, passed away on Wednesday May 17, 2023 at Sparrow Hospital in Lansing. The daughter of the late Leonard P. and Geraldine M. (Fisher) Bashaw was born in Omer, Michigan on August 3, 1950. Janis loved nursing and was very passionate about helping her patients. She was employed at King’s Daughters Home in Midland until retiring in 2020. Janis enjoyed animals, watching the original Star Track with William Shatner, listening to country music and was a collector Native American items. She loved the moments with her family and friends when together. Janis also enjoyed when her and her sisters went on weekend trip together.

Surviving are her sons, Brent (Diane) Gingerich, Douglas (Angela) Gingerich, Kristopher Gingerich; 11 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; siblings, Judy (Stanely) Ziaya, Leonard “Bud” (Cathy) Bashaw, Jody (Edward) Holland; many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Janis was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin.

A celebration of Janis life will be conducted at 4:00 p.m. Wednesday May 24, 2023 at Wilson MILLER Funeral Home. Family will receive guests at the funeral home on Wednesday from 3:00 p.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Gratiot County Humane Society or the American Diabetes Association.
