Earl Wayne Hoon

Earl Wayne Hoon, age 94 of Midland, passed away Thursday May 18, 2023 at Coleman Fields Assisted Living. The son of the late Elna and Bernice (Alexander) Hoon was born on July 14, 1928 on the family homestead where he resided until 2022. Earl served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He was employed with the Dow Chemical Company as a Tank Car Repairman retiring in 1982 after 36 years of service. In his earlier years, Earl was a great softball player, avid hunter and fisherman teaching his grandchildren and great grandkids everything to make them great outdoorsman.

Surviving is his wife of 70 years, the former Alma May Stevens, of whom he married on January 30, 1953; son Alan (Sue) Hoon; daughter, Cindy Hoon Droomer; grandchildren, Angela Crawford (Adam) Hoffman, Justin Droomer; great grandchildren, Tyler Crawford, Zoe Bartlett; sister, Norma (Ray) Stevens; and a little special one Lilly Vesterfelt. In addition to his parents, Earl was preceded in death by siblings, Nina, Etta and Vera Chapin, Lloyd, Roy Hoon, Eva Herman, Reva Ross.

Funeral services for Earl will be conducted at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday May 25, 2023 at Midland Missionary Church with Rev. David Kissinger officiating. Family will receive guests at the Church on Thursday from 3 until 4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Careline Hospice or the organization of one’s choice. Arrangements are under the care of Wilson MILLER Funeral Home.
