Wilmena E. Monroe, age 97 of Midland, passed away on Monday evening, August 5, 2024 at Stratford Pines Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. The daughter of the late Lawrence and Zilda (Gagne) Badour was born in Mt. Haley Township on October 15, 1926, where she was raised and educated graduating from Midland High School in 1945. Wilmena was a hard worker as demonstrated by her dedication to working and managing a dairy farm for many years. She had a delightful sense of humor and enjoyed being with people.
Wilmena had many hobbies including gem and rock hunting, gardening, fishing, crocheting, needle point, baking, and playing various card games. She enjoyed making and spending time with her friends at Washington Woods, where she lived for 10 years. Prior to her move back to Midland in 2013 to be closer to family, she lived in Zephyrhills, Florida for 19 years.
Wilmena is survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Charles, Bernard, Louis, and Lawrence Badour, and Thelma Avery.
The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 12, 2024 at St. Brigid of Kildare Catholic Church. The rite of committal will be in Chapel Gardens Cemetery in Alma, Michigan. Family will receive guests at the church on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Wilmena's family requests that St. Brigid Catholic Church be considered for memorial contributions. Arrangements are under the care of Wilson MILLER Funeral Home.
