Wilma Maxine Deforest

Wilma Maxine DeForest, age 80 of Sanford, died Tuesday, February 28, 2023 at home with her loving family by her side. She was born on March 21, 1942 in Saginaw to the late William and Eva (Beebe) Schearer. She married Phillip DeForest on April 8, 1961 and they shared 61 years together before her death.

Wilma loved nature and you could often find her gardening, watching birds, or camping. She had a knack for being creative which she used to paint and create beautiful flower arrangements. Wilma enjoyed music and kept active by attending car shows and dancing. She also enjoyed playing both board games and cards. The most important thing to Wilma was her family, especially spending time with her grandkids and great grandkids.

Surviving is her husband, Phillip DeForest; children, Toni (Dennis) Calkins, Tom DeForest, Terri (Gregg) Sauve, Theresa Snyder, and Lori (Steve) Lyndrup; grandkids, Jennifer (Tony) LaLicata, Corey (Jessie) Calkins, Nick (Brittany) Sauve, Brett (Katie Blevins) Sauve, Jared McDaniel, Haleigh DeForest, and Logan Bellinger; great grandkids, Brooklyn LaLicata, Lucca LaLicata, Harlow Calkins, Levon Sauve, and Bonham Sauve; siblings, Jerry (Linda) Schearer, Marge (Charly) Roberson, Darryl (Nicole) Schearer, Eddie (Brenda) Schearer, and Jackie (Mike) Sysak. In addition to her parents, Wilma was preceded in death by her brother, Richard (Linda) Schearer.

Services to celebrate Wilma's life will be held at 11 am on Saturday, March 4, 2023 at the Wilson MILLER Funeral Home. Private burial will be in New Hope Twp Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Saturday from 10 am until the time of service and a luncheon at Trinity Lutheran Church, 3701 Jefferson Ave following the service. Memorial contributions may be offered to Senior Services of Midland or Seasons Adult Day Health Services of Midland.
