William D. "Will" Merillat

William D. "Will" Merillat, age 75 of Sanford, died Friday afternoon May 6, 2016 at his home surrounded by his family. The son of the late Harold L. and Fay (Rossman) Merillat was born in Wauseon, Ohio on July 22, 1940. He had been employed with Sears and Roebuck until his retirement in 1988 after 30 years of service. Will was an active member at Sanford United Methodist Church and its Youth Group, a former member of Jerome Township Fire Department for over 35 years. He enjoyed attending his grandchildren's sporting events, boating and fishing. Will would help anyone who needed it and was a friend to everyone he met. He would always say "I don't have a dime invested"

Surviving is his wife of 52 years the former Florence I. McJames of whom he married on August 25, 1963; sons, Dean (Anna) Merillat of Sanford, David (Darci) Merillat of Coleman, Daniel (Angie) Merillat of Sanford; grandchildren, Hannah (John) Miron, Haylee, Heidi, Zoe, Hunter and Kelsey Merillat; sister in law, Marlene Merillat of Midland; many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents Will was preceded in death by his brothers, James and Keith.

Funeral services for will take place 11:00 a.m. Wednesday May 11, 2016 from Wilson MILLER Funeral Home with Rev. Lisa Cook officiating. Interment will follow in Jerome Township Cemetery, Sanford. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 2 till 8:00 p.m. and on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Memorials may be offered to Sanford United Methodist Church, Meridian High School Sports Booster Club or Coleman High School Sports Booster Club.
