William Walter Wichert

February 10, 1934 — July 1, 2022

William Walter Wichert, 88, passed away in his home on July 1, 2022, surrounded by family. Bill was born in Holt, Michigan, to the late Ernest and Berdella (King) Wichert on February 10, 1934.&He graduated from Blanchard High School in 1952, worked at General Electric in Edmore, and joined the Army in 1956. In 1958, Bill returned to Blanchard where he met the love of his life Mary Roubal. Bill and Mary were married on July 13, 1963 in Gills Pier, Michigan. He was a machine operator for Hitachi in Edmore, Michigan until he retired in 1989. Bill was a kind and gentle man who enjoyed playing cards, completing jigsaw puzzles, hobby farming, John Deere tractors, making maple syrup, hunting, fishing, camping and most importantly spending time with his family and friends.



Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of nearly 59 years, Mary; children, Anita (Rod) Heard, Laurie (Steve) Wezensky, Karen Showalter, Alane (Joe) Hazewinkel, Bill (Julie) Wichert, Connie (Adam) DeLong, Suzanne (Brandon) Creed, his dearly loved foster son William Woodbury; brother, Keith (Patti) Wichert; 31 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; along with numerous nieces and nephews and other extended family members and dear friends who will miss him greatly.



Bill was preceded in death by his parents; brother Ernest and grandson Tanner Creed.



A funeral mass for Bill will be held on Friday July 29, 2022, 2:00 pm, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, in Sanford, Michigan with a luncheon to follow. Bill's ashes will be laid to rest at the Pine River Cemetery in Blanchard, Michigan at a later date.The family requests that memorial donations be directed toCapuchin Retreat, 62460 Mt.
