William J. "Red" Strack, age 83 of Midland died at Nottingham Place on Thursday, February 9, 2012.
The son of the late Eric and Lora (Higby) Strack was born on March 3, 1928 in Amsterdam, New York where he was raised and educated.
On July 12, 1958 Red married the former Alice Armstrong in Hinsdale, Illinois. He graduated from Cornell University School of Chemical Engineering in 1950 and moved to Midland. Red served in the Army Chemical Corps in 1951. He worked for the Dow Corning Corporation until his retirement in 1988, after 38 years of service.
Red spent many years on the Larkin Township Planning and Zoning Board. He enjoyed hunting, skiing and most of all reading history.
Red is survived by is wife of 53 years, Alice Strack; son, Eric W. Strack of Midland; and daughters, Peggy (Brent) Clark of Kingston, MI, Alison (Barry) Levine of Bloomfield, New Jersey and Susan Strack of Kentucky. He was predeceased by sisters, Phyllis Dietze and Mary Lou Lux.
