Rev. William F. Heydens, age 93 of Bay City, passed away Tuesday January 7, 2020 at McLaren Bay Region Hospital. The son of the late Frank and Carolyn (Sherman) Heydens was born in Norway, Michigan on June 14, 1926. Bill served in the United States Army Air Force during World War II. He then attended and graduated from Grand Rapids Baptist Bible Institute and devoted his entire life and career as a Gospel Preacher. Rev Heydens built and started the Baldwin Baptist Church serving there for 13 years, he then served The Carter Road Baptist Church from 1972 to 1983. He then moved to Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, where he served at The Woodruff Baptist Church in Woodruff, Wisconsin. Rev. Heydens returned to The Carter Road Baptist Church in 1989 and served until retiring in July of 2017 at the age 91.
Surviving is his wife of 72 years the former Celia M. Alexanderson of whom he married on June 6, 1947 in Norway; sons, William F. (Tammy) Heydens, Nels F. (Dawn M.) Heydens, Nathan M. (Dawn E.) Heydens; 12 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Rev. Heydens was preceded in death by a son, Bruce; a daughter, Darlene Worst; granddaughter, Nichole Heydens; sister, Dolores Hackman.
Funeral and committal services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Saturday January 11, 2020 at Wilson MILLER Funeral Home 4210 N. Saginaw Rd Midland, with Rev. Stan Dulaney officiating. Interment will be in Norway Cemetery in Norway, Michigan. Family will receive guests at the funeral home on Saturday from 12 noon until the time of service.
