William T. Alberts

William T. Alberts, age 85 of Sanford, died Tuesday evening April 24, 2012 at his residence. The son of the late Theodore and Elizabeth (Clark) Alberts was born in Bay City, Michigan on October 4, 1926. Bill served in the United States Army during World War II. He was employed at GM Saginaw Nodular Iron until retiring in 1988 after 28 years of service. Bill enjoyed coaching little league, football, boxing, hunting, fishing, collecting coins and playing cards with his family. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Bill was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church, Sanford, American Legion and was a driver for Midland County Meals on Wheels. On July 5, 1951 in Chicago, Bill married the former Dorothy M. Smith. She died on June 28, 2011.

Surviving are his sons, Steve (Dottie) Burgdorf of Kawkawlin, Randy (Lorraine) Burgdorf of Freeland, Tim (Shelia) Alberts of Saginaw, Jim (Cathy) Alberts of Valrico, Florida, Rick (Linda) Alberts of Lake City, Roger Alberts of Sanford; former daughter in law, Alna Gallagher of Bay City; grandchildren, Jenny, Bethany, Sunny, Candi, Ryan, Dan, Will, Lisa, Nicole, Chad, Sara, Justin and Alicia; 15 great grandchildren; brother, Terry Alberts of Saginaw; sisters, Phyllis Albert, Jay Alberts, Donna Alberts, Suzie Alberts, Theodora Davidson all of Saginaw; many nieces and nephews . In addition to his parents and wife, William was preceded in death by his brothers, Roger, Timothy, Deck and Larry Alberts; sister, Gertrude Alberts.

Funeral services will take place 11:00 a.m. Saturday April 28, 2012 from Wilson MILLER Funeral Home. Fr. Dan Fox, OFM, Cap will officiate. Military Honors will be provided by the United States Army and the Midland Area Veterans. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 and on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
