Wilbur D. Roberson

Wilbur D. Roberson, age 69 of Sanford, died Friday July 15, 2011 at the University of Michigan Medical Center in Ann Arbor. The son of the late Roy and Vera (Rogers) Roberson was born in Midland on July 1, 1942. Wilbur served in the United States Army. He was employed with Detroit Edison until his retirement in 2004 after 23 years of service. Wilbur enjoyed hunting fishing Chevy cars and being with his family. He always said the best job was being a grandpa.

Surviving is his wife of 24 years, the former Sharon Penney whom he married on September 23, 1987; sons, Kenny Roberson of South Carolina, Scott Roberson of Bay City, Matthew Pieper of St. Clair, Michigan; 2 grandchildren, Kayla Rose and Matilyn Pieper; many brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents Wilbur was preceded in death by a brother.

Funeral and committal services will take place 11:00 a.m. Wednesday July 20, 2011 from Wilson MILLER Funeral Home. Interment will be in Midland Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4 to 7:00 p.m. Memorials may be offered to Faith United Methodist Church in Coleman and St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
