Wilbur A. Parks, age 91 of Midland died Monday, March 1, 2010 at Tendercare-Clare. The son of the late Thomas and Ethel (Southom) Parks was born August 20, 1918 in Midland where he was raised and educated. He married the former Roberta Rankin on August 22, 1932 in Bryan, Ohio. Mr. Parks served with the U.S. Army during WWII in the Southern Philippines. Wilbur worked as a carpenter for Carpenters Local #706, retiring in 1979. He enjoyed remodeling, building homes, working with his hands and was an avid animal lover. The Parks' enjoyed wintering in Ocala, Florida for 16 years.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 71 years, Roberta Parks; son, Jack (Sandra) Parks of Battle Creek; daughters, Carol Parks of Wyoming, MI, Sharon (Steven) Letherer of Clare;
6 grandchildren; and 3 great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by sisters, Mary Sly of Midland, Dorothy Williamson of Midland and Thelma Smith of Charlotte.
In accordance to his wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at a later date.
Donations in Mr. Parks memory may be offered to Emmanuel Baptist Church.
