Walter Matthew Siegel, Jr.

Walter “Walt” Matthew Siegel, Jr., age 96, embarked on his final adventure on September 18, 2026, leaving behind a lifelong legacy of kindness, hard work, and lighthearted laughter. Born on April 13, 1930 in McKean County, PA, Walt proudly served his country in the U.S. Army where he was stationed in Germany during the Korean War. Walt has enjoyed his time as an active member of the Sanford American Legion Post 443.

Walt retired out of the Local 85 Pipefitters. A favorite hobby has always been puttering around the yard on his lawnmower, while thinking up ways to change and improve the homestead. Entertaining family and friends always brought him so much happiness and joy.

Surviving Walter are his children, Walter M. Siegel of Sanford, Bethel L. Siegel (Debra) of Midland, Mary A. Siegel of Lowell, Colleen M. Siegel of Sanford, Kim E. Siegel of Sanford, James E. Siegel of Sanford, Teri L. Chia (Thiam Poh) of Midland; sister, Jean Siegel Eppinger (Bruce Eppinger) of PA; his many grandchildren, Mary, Gail, Tamara, Pamela, Kate, Jennifer, Matthew, Dennis, Keri, Luke, Brian, Therese, Jeremy, Joshua, Tiffany, Elisabeth, Karmen, Avery and Aiden; along with numerous great and great-great grandchildren.

Walter was predeceased by his wife, Mary Ann (Richmond) Siegel of Sanford; his siblings, Albert Siegel (Vera) of PA, Baby George Siegel of PA, John (Jack) Siegel of FL, Rosemary Struble of TX, Joy Prichard (Dennis) of CO; grandson, William E. McCulloch III; and daughter in-law, Lillian Siegel.

In accordance with Walter’s wishes, a memorial service will be held at a later date. Anyone wanting to honor his memory are asked to plant a tree. Wilson Miller Funeral Home is caring for the Siegel family.
