Walter A. Drake, Jr.

Walter A. Drake, Jr. age 61 of Midland died Tuesday, February 22, 2011 at his home.

The son of Dorothy (Beach) and the late Walter A. Drake, Sr. was born June 1, 1949 in Midland where he was raised and educated. Walter was a career military man with the U. S. Navy and part of the SeaBees, retiring after 22 years of service. He enjoyed crocheting, being on the computer corresponding with his friends in the Philippines, and spending time with his grandchildren. Walter was a member of the Sanford American Legion Post #443.

He is survived by his son, Tim (Cherie) Drake of Biloxi, Mississippi; daughter, Theresa (Philip) Ouda of Midland; grandchildren, Sylvia Tolfree, Daniel Drake, Sakina Ouda, Nura Ouda, Ava Drake; great grandson, Bryce Ouda; mother Dorothy Drake of Midland; brother, Dave (Lila) Drake of Midland; sisters, Ruthann Smith and friend Jim Sims of Midland, Dora (David) Schieber of Midland; many nieces and nephews; and his best friend/dog, Lilbit.

A memorial service for Mr. Drake will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, February 26, 2011 from the Wilson MILLER Funeral Home with Pastor Dan Youmans of Lighthouse Body of Christ Church officiating. Military rites will be under the auspices of the Midland Area Veterans and the U.S. Navy Funeral Honors Guard.
