Virginia E. Otis

Virginia E. (Stoy) Otis age 88 of Midland died Wednesday August 11, 2010 at Tender Care of Midland. The daughter of the late Clyde and Martha (Larson) Stoy was born on January 24, 1922 in Clare, MI. On June 9, 1941 she married Alfred Wayne Otis in Toledo, Ohio and he predeceased her on January 13, 2001. Virginia was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church where she was active with many activities, prayer groups and the Women's Society. She enjoyed gardening, traveling and walking for MS and Crop Walks for charity groups. Virginia, along with her husband volunteered at Happy Diners for over 20 years and served on the general election board for over 28 years.

Virginia is survived by sons, John (Sandie) Otis of Lowell, Jerry (Roberta) Otis of Portage; and a daughter Kay Coppola of Midland. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Chris (Cathy) Coppola, Tanya (Eric) Sturtz, Jeremy (Beckie) Otis, Jessie (Tony) Larabel, Katie (Josh) Nagy and Holly (Zach) Pick; great grandchildren, Dalton Ervans, Briana & Colin Gomez, Rainna Larabel, Josie Otis, Tony Quatman; and sisters, Welthea Braley of California and Mildred Stoy of Midland. She was predeceased by Gladys Waring and Ruth Ostrander

Funeral service for Mrs. Otis will be conducted at 11:00 am Saturday, August 14, 2010 from Aldersgate United Methodist Church with the Reverend Mark Miller officiating; interment will be in Midland Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Wilson MILLER Funeral Home on Friday from 4 to 8 pm and at the church on Saturday from 10:00 am until time of service. Memorials may be offered to Aldersgate United Methodist Church.
