Virginia Lois (Meylan) Wackerle, age 91 of Sanford, left this world on April 24 to be reunited with her husband on their 73rd wedding anniversary.& "Ginny" was born on August 12, 1929 in Bay City, Mi to the late Arnold and Mary (Wirbel) Meylan. She carried her love of the land, to the love of her life, by marrying Lorraine Wackerle and becoming a farmer's wife. Ginny always said he married her because she could drive a tractor.
Along with raising three children, Ginny had many jobs, (lecturer for Weight Watchers, BeeLine Fashion Sales, door-to-door toy sales and traveling crafter). She excelled at playing many musical instruments by ear. Her athletic accomplishments included volleyball, ice skating, dancing, tennis, bowling and golf. She shot a hole-in-one in her league in her 70's. Cards, especially Euchre, were another talent; it was an unusual day when she was bested.
When Lorn and Ginny decided to sell the farm and retire to Sanford and winter in Florida, she made beautiful crafts and sold them on the Circuit, the car stuffed with items made during the long winters.
She is survived by her children, Neil (Julie) Wackerle, Lon Wackerle, and Peggy McWherter; grandchildren, Christopher (Andrea), Jonathan (Sarah), and Maddison McWherter; five great grandchildren; sister Jane Newton Smith; sister-in-law, Carolyn Pashak. In addition to her parents, Ginny was predeceased by her husband, and sister Arlene Strefling.
Her three children witnessed her life and death keeping her in her home during the end of her days as she requested.
