Violet Marjorie Smith

Violet M. (Secrist) Smith, 77, of Midland died Thursday, July 30, 2009 at MidMichigan Stratford Village.

The daughter of the late Robert and Lena (Hathaway) Secrist was born May 16, 1932 in Atlanta, Michigan where she was raised and educated.
Violet married Gus W. Smith on February 6, 1949. After 36 years of marriage, Gus died on June 13, 1985.
Violet was a school bus driver for 26 years. She enjoyed remodeling houses and doing crafts. She loved traveling, being with friends and raising her children. She was always there for family and friends.

Mrs. Smith is survived by her son, Kelly Smith of Ashgrove, Missouri; daughters, Debra (LeRoy) Alcox of Midland, Rhonda Kaufman of Midland, Denay (Rich) Brien of Kalamazoo; -6- grandchildren and -7- great grandchildren; son in law, Mark Warner of Arizona; sister, Linda (Ken) Carlson; sisters in law, Jean Secrist and Jacqueline Secrist.
In addition to her parents and husband she was predeceased by her daughter, Robin Warner and brothers, Ed and Vernon Secrist.

Violet's family will meet with friends at the Wilson MILLER Funeral Home on Saturday from 2-4 pm. Burial will be in Midland Memorial Gardens.
Memorials may be offered to Henry Ford Hospital Liver Transplant Program.
