"Well I looked in the obituaries this morning and my name wasn't there" Well... today it was. Victor D. Howe, age 71 of Hartland, MI died Thursday morning September 24, 2015 at his residence. The son of the late Victor and Madeline (McMillan) Howe was born on June 24, 1944 in Midland and raised in Sanford, graduating from Midland High School in 1962. Victor served with the United States Navy from 1963 to 1967. On September 20, 1969 he married the former Wanda Lower in Sanford. Victor joined the Highland Park Police Department in 1969 where he worked until his retirement in 1994. He studied Criminal Justice at Mercy College in Detroit. After his retirement he then worked for the Detroit Medical Center for eighteen years in security. He was a member of St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church in Brighton and enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time with grandkids.
Victor is survived by his wife Wanda; one son Scott Howe of Warren, MI and one daughter, Sheila (Anthony) Ercolani of Bonita Springs, FL. He is also survived by grandchildren Brenden, Natalie, Brayde, Andrea and Anthony; his sister Ann Pomranky of Midland; brother, Dennis Howe of Sanford; brothers-in-law, Terry Lower, Jerry (Marla) Lower; sister-in-law Sherry Moe and many nieces and nephews. Victor was predeceased by his parents, brothers-in-law, John Pomranky, Gary Moe; father and mother-in-law, Tony and Ola Leigeb.
The funeral liturgy will be celebrated at 11:00 AM Tuesday September 29, 2015 from Our Lady of Grace (St. Agnes) Catholic Church in Sanford with Fr. Dan Fox OFM, Cap as celebrant. The Rite of Committal will be in Old Calvary Cemetery, Midland with Military Funeral Honors being provided by the U.S Navy Honors and the Midland Area Veterans. Visitation will be at the Wilson MILLER Funeral Home on Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8:00 pm and at the church on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Memorials may be offered to Our Lady of Grace Church, Sanford, or the Capuchin Franciscan Friars at the Father Solanus Casey Center, 1780 Mount Elliott St., Detroit, MI 48207.
