Thomas H. Short

Thomas H. Short, age 68 of Freeland, died Saturday morning November 2, 2013 at his residence. The son of the late Harold G. and Ellen (Anger) Short was born and raised in Poseyville on December 23, 1944. Tom graduated from Midland High School in 1963. He served in the United States Army 2 years in Texas and 1 year in Korea. Tom had been employed with The Dow Chemical Co. as a millwright until his retirement in 2001 after 35 ½ years of service. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and played in many local bands, he loved his music. Tom was a member of the American Legion Berryhill Post 165 and served on the Honor Guard for over 11 years.

Surviving is his wife of almost 26 years the former Elaine Hoffer of whom he married on November 7, 1987; daughter, Kara (Mike) Rohn; sons, Tom (Ashley) Short, Jeff (Mary) Short; daughters, Lisa Comer, Toni (Cal) Coristine, Tracy Lockwood; grandchildren, Landry Short, Zachery Comer, Jacob Comer, Mackinzie Coristine, Thomas Coristine, Macey Rohn, Chase Rohn, Ava Rohn, Shelby Short and baby boy Short due in March 2014; brother, James (Shelly) Short; sister, Janet Eurich; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents Tom was preceded in death by his brother, Mark and sister in law, Brenda Short.

Funeral services for Tom will take place 11:00 a.m. Wednesday November 6, 2013 from Wilson MILLER Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Poseyville Cemetery with Military Honors being provided by the United States Army Funeral Honors and the Midland Area Veterans. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 2 to 8:00 p.m. and on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Memorials maybe offered to the Midland Area Veterans.
