Stella A. Douglass

Stella Ann Douglass passed away on Wednesday, August 23, 2017 from complications of COPD and Lung Cancer. One of her last wishes was that if she could do it all over again - she would never smoke. Stella was born on September 4, 1935 in Midland, Michigan to the late Anna and Thomas Falkowski. A lifelong Midland resident, Stella worked at Cunningham's Drug Store and Lalonde's before becoming a stay home mom. She married Stephen Douglass May 10, 1970. Steve and Stella raised her 3 son's and had one daughter together.

Stella was predeceased by her first husband Robert Dale Garnett, Sr., her second husband Stephen Harold Douglass, her son Robert Dale Garnett, Jr. and by her two brothers, Edward and Theodore Falkowski.

Stella is survived by her brothers Tom (Lillian) Falkowski, Frank (Kay) Falkowski, George Falkowski all of Midland. Her sons George (Roberta) Falkowski of Midland, Jeff (Maryanne) Garnett of Auburn and her daughter April Douglass of Bluffton, South Carolina. In addition she is survived by her grandchildren Amy and Kevin Falkowski and Alexander Garnett all of Midland she also leaves behind her step-grandchildren Rhonda Stahl and Michael Acklin.

The family would like to send out special thanks to George, Roberta, Amy and Kevin for taking care of "Grandma" in her final days and making sure she got to her favorite place the Casino. We'd also like to thank Senior Services of Midland County, Mid-Michigan Home Health Care and Hospice, Medilodge of Midland and finally Mark and Lauren of Applewood Assisted Living for their compassion and care over the past several months, Stella enjoyed your company and her stay.

According to Stella's wishes cremation has taken place and she has been buried in Midland Cemetery next to Steve and her son, Bob. There will be no services or visitation, but family will hold a picnic in her honor at a later date. Those wishing to make an expression of sympathy may want to consider the Salvation Army of Midland County or Independent Community Living.
