Shirley Ann (Kinney) Wontorcik

Shirley Ann Wontorcik, age 86 of Midland, passed away Thursday June 2, 2022 at My Michigan Health of Midland. The daughter of Wilbur and Violet (Reeves) Kinney was born August 24, 1935 in Midland where she was raised and educated. On August 14, 1954, she married John Wontorcik at St. Brigid's Church in Midland. Together she and John liked to spend their summers at Tamarac Village on Hamlin Lake.

Shirley was a lifetime member of Poseyville United Methodist Church where she served on the church board and played both the piano and organ for many services. She owned and operator her beauty shop, The Golden Comb, for 15 years and taught dance lessons at the Midland Community Center for 15 years. Most of all, she will be remembered for the love she had for her family.

Surviving are her husband of 67 years, John Wontorcik of Midland; children, Cathy (John) VanMeter, Gary (Jackie) Wontorcik, Linda Bryant, and Karen (Mike) Nentwig all of Midland; her grandchildren, Brad, Bryan, Matt, Nicole, Mitch, Jordan, Katelyn; 8 great grandchildren with another on the way; brother, Chuck (Fran) Kinney; and her best friend, Diane Woodcock. She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilbur and Violet Kinney.

A celebration of Shirley's life will be held 11:00 am Thursday, June 9, 2022 at the Wilson MILLER Funeral Home with Rev. Michael Luce officiating. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4 – 7 pm and again on Thursday from 10 am until the time of service.
