Shirley Ann Horning, age 75 of Hope, died Wednesday evening January 20, 2010 at her residence. The daughter of the late Ira and Nina (Timmons) Manges was born in Midland on August 28, 1934 where she was raised and educated graduating from Midland High School in 1953. Shirley was a co-op at the Dow Library and worked 3 years at Dow 47 building. On October 5, 1956 in Midland, Shirley married William Horning. Shirley enjoyed growing flowers and gardening. She taught Sunday school at Hope Baptist Church for 15 years, Teachers helper at Hillside Elementary School and helped at United Fund in Midland.
Surviving is her husband of 53 years William; her children, Ricky W. Horning of Oak Harbor, Washington, Terri Ann Horning of Hope, Bryan K. (Iantha) Horning of Terre Haute, Indiana; grandchildren, William E. "Billy" and Bryanna Horning; brother, Bernard (Patricia) Manges of Hope; sisters, Marge Cundiff, Elaine (Stanley) Marquiss, Karen Rolley all of Hope. Shirley was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Raynald and Leonard Manges.
A celebration of Shirley's life will take place 11:00 a.m. Wednesday January 27, 2010 at Hope United Methodist Church. Rev. Pat Poag will officiate. Family and friends may visit at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Memorial may be offered to MidMichigan Home Care (Hospice). Arrangements are under the care of Wilson MILLER Funeral Home.
