Shannon Lynneil Blodgett, lovingly known to many as Shay, Aunt Pink, and Grantie Shay, passed away Friday evening, October 30, 2026, at the age of 50.
Born in Niles, Michigan, Shannon eventually made her way north to Central Michigan, where she built a life filled with family, friendships, laughter, adventures, and countless memories. Shannon was a bright, vibrant soul who never did anything halfway. She had a personality as colorful as her favorite color, pink, and a presence that was impossible to forget.
Shannon had a passion for life and a love for the things that made it special. She loved traveling, especially anywhere with beautiful blue water, soft white sand, and a tropical atmosphere. If there was a beach, sunshine, and a place to relax, she was happy. Perhaps one of the best ways to picture Shannon is cruising along on her scooter in Key West, with the warm ocean breeze in her hair and the sunset ahead of her. We can only imagine her continuing that ride now, heading off into the sunset, free from pain, with endless sunshine and blue skies ahead.
Family gatherings and celebrations were especially important to Shannon. Christmas was one of her favorite times of the year, and she made sure everyone knew it. Seven Christmas trees were just the beginning of her holiday spirit! And New Year's Eve was always a celebration of its own, not only because it marked the beginning of a new year, but because January 1 was Shannon's birthday. She knew how to celebrate life, and she made sure those around her did, too.
Shannon took great pride in her accomplishments, including earning her bachelor's degree and dedicating nearly 30 years of her professional life to MyMichigan Health. Her commitment and years of service were an important part of who she was.
She also had a love for shopping, fashion, jewelry, and handbags. She knew how to accessorize and loved putting together the perfect look. And, of course, everyone knew about Shannon's eyelashes! They were her signature, her pride and joy, and something she never compromised on. Even during her final days, nurses and doctors made a point of telling her that her lashes were on point. That was Shannon right to the very end.
Music was another one of her great passions. Her love for singing was undeniable, her knowledge of song lyrics was legendary. Her laugh was contagious, her energy was unmistakable, and her ability to bring joy to those around her was one of her greatest gifts.
Above all, Shannon was incredibly proud of her two children, Logen and Madisen. They were her heart, and she loved watching them grow, find their paths, and accomplish the things they have achieved. Her love for them was immeasurable, and they were among her greatest accomplishments.
Shannon also shared a deep and special bond with her husband, who was her best friend and lifelong companion. Through life's happiest moments and its most difficult challenges, including years of medical struggles, he remained by her side. Their journey was not always easy, but his love and commitment never wavered. He was there through the difficult days, the small victories, and every moment in between, holding her hand and loving her until her very last breath.
Shannon leaves behind a lifetime of memories, a family who adored her, friends who will forever miss her laughter, and countless people whose lives were brighter because she was part of them.
She will be remembered for her vibrant spirit, her love of pink, her beautiful lashes, her unmistakable laugh, her passion for music, her love of family, and her ability to make ordinary moments feel like celebrations.
The world may be a little less pink without Shannon, but the memories, laughter, love, and color she brought into our lives will never fade.
She will forever be loved, forever missed, and never forgotten.
Shannon is lovingly remembered by her parents, Carol (Zeke) Forkum, in-laws Pat (Jesse) Loudenslager and Harry Blodgett. Sisters, Colleen (Jason) Pennell, Kelley (Ryan) Huling, Christina Loudenslager and her brothers, Patrick Bryant and his partner, Michelle, Gary (Allison) Blodgett, and Joshua (Kristy) Loudenslager. Shannon was a proud aunt to her nephews, Trevor, Avery, Zebediah, and Cooper, and her nieces, Faith, Mara, Brianna, Adalynn Claire, and Riley, all of whom held a special place in her heart.
A Celebration of Shannon's Life
During her time in the ICU, one of Shannon's heartfelt wishes was to see everyone she loved. In honor of that wish, her family invites all who knew and loved Shannon to come together, celebrate her life, share memories, and surround her family with love.
Let's fill the church with as many people as possible, just as Shannon would have wanted. Whether you knew her as Shay, Aunt Pink, or Grantie Shay, a friend, a coworker, or family, you were part of her story, and she would have loved to see you there.
