Ruth M. Tomlinson

Ruth M. (List) Tomlinson, age 83 of Midland, died Tuesday morning September 22, 2009 at Brookdale Senior Living Sterling House. The daughter of the late John and Ila (Vreeland) List was born in Mt. Pleasant on October 7, 1925 where she was raised and educated. Ruth was a member of the Homer United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School for many years. She was a member of the Midland Fiber Guild, enjoyed many types of needle work, taught sewing classes and did many demonstrations of spinning and weaving. Ruth also enjoyed doing genealogy. On February 21, 1946 in Alma, Ruth married William E. Tomlinson. He died on December 6, 1994.

Surviving are her son, William (Carol) Tomlinson of Saratoga Springs, New York; daughter, Ann (Mark) Hamburg of Woodinville, Washington; 4 grandchildren, Peter and Kirsten Tomlinson, Max and Gavin Hamburg; sister, Alice Wheeler of Cadillac; sister in law, Naomi Thurlow; brother in law, Arthur Tomlinson; many nieces and nephews. Ruth was preceded in death by her brother, Arthur List and a sister, Rahma Croll.

Funeral services will take place 11:00 a.m. Friday September 25, 2009 from Homer United Methodist Church. Pastor David G. Mulder and Rev. William Schaard will officiate. Interment will follow in Homer Township Cemetery. Family and friends may visit at the Wilson MILLER Funeral Home on Thursday from 5 until 8 p.m. and at the church on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers memorials may be offered to Homer United Methodist Church Women Society or Sunday School and Chippewa Nature Center.
