Ruth V. Stevens

Ruth V. Stevens of Midland died Friday morning, March 26, 2010 at her residence. The daughter of the late Arthur and Frieda (Bucholz) Dettmer was born in Saginaw and had resided in the area most of her life. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church where she was a Nursery School Aid and was active in many other groups at the church. She volunteered at MidMichigan Medical Center, enjoyed gardening, reading and knitting. Ruth was a member of the Book Weaders Club. On June 4, 1946 in Delray Beach, Florida, Ruth married Lyle J. Stevens. He died on September 28, 1998.

Surviving are her daughter in law, Chaleen Stevens of Noblesville, Indiana; granddaughter, Faith Stevens; special niece and nephew, Sandra (Chuck) Tackett of Georgetown, Kentucky, Greg (Kathy) Wilson of Bay City. In addition to her parents and husband, Ruth was preceded in death by her son, Scott J. Stevens and sister, Geraldine Wilson.

Funeral and committal services will take place 11:00 a.m. Monday March 29, 2010 at Trinity Lutheran Church. Rev. Gerald Ferguson will officiate. Interment will be in Midland City Cemetery. Ruth's family will receive friends at the church on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers memorials may be offered to Trinity Lutheran Church or McLaren Visiting Nurses & Hospice. Arrangements are under the care of Wilson MILLER Funeral Home.
