Ruth B. (Prast) Cook, age 88 of Midland, died Monday March 21, 2011 at Mercy Memorial Hospital in Monroe, Michigan. The daughter of the late Robert and Emma (Witke) Prast was born in Midland on October 27, 1922. Following her graduation from Midland High School in 1941 she was employed by Dow Chemical until her marriage to Robert T. Cook on December 15, 1950. After raising her children, Ruth was employed with Delta College until her retirement in 1987 after nearly 20 years of service. Ruth enjoyed exploring her family genealogy, sewing, needle point, travel, lapidary and gardening. She was especially fond of her roses and her cats.
Robert passed away at home on June 23, 2010. Surviving is her son, Donald J. Cook of Derry, New Hampshire, daughter, Kathryn L. Cook of Monroe and brother, Kenneth H. (Marilyn) Prast of Redford, Michigan. In addition to her parents and husband, Ruth was preceded in death by her brother, Lawrence R. Prast of Chandler, Arizona.
A celebration of Ruth's life will take place 1:00 p.m. Saturday April 2, 2011 from Wilson MILLER Funeral Home. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 12 noon until the time of service.
