Ruth Marguarite (Hallett) Tompkins

Ruth Marguarite (Hallett) Tompkins, devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother passed away peacefully at home on November 28th, 2021. Ruth was born to Elverson and Florence Hallett on August 29, 1926 in Upper Brighton, Carleton County, New Brunswick, Canada. Ruth moved to Royal Oak, Michigan along with her husband, Claude, daughter Sharon and son Norm in December of 1960. She and her immediate family became naturalized American citizens. After living in Royal Oak, Ruth and Claude moved to Fairgrove, Michigan and most recently lived in Old Oak Trails in Sanford, Michigan since 2007.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, Elverson and Florence Hallett; and her in-laws, Coy and Daisy Tompkins.

Ruth is survived by her husband, Claude, of 74 years; daughter, M. Sharon (James) Carruthers of Punta Gorda, Florida and Oscoda, Michigan; son, Norm (Sue) Tompkins of Midland, Michigan; grandchildren, Scott (Lisa) Carruthers of Madison Heights, Michigan, Brent (Megan) Tompkins of Traverse City, Michigan, Kelli (Mike) Meyer of Grand Haven, Michigan, and Karri (Ben) Palmer of Midland, Michigan; great grandchildren, Grace, Ryan, Dyllan, Carter, Mylah, Coy, Claire, Payton, and Morgan.

Ruth's life will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Thursday, December 2, 2021 at Wilson MILLER Funeral Home. Visitation will be on Thursday from 10:00 am until the time of service. Contributions in memory of Ruth may be made to the Hospice Care Team. Special thanks to caregiver, Donna Peters and the Hospice Care Team for their wonderful help with Ruth.
