Ruth M. Cozat

Ruth M. Cozat, age 80 of Coleman died Sunday February 26, 2012 at the MidMichigan Medical Center. The daughter of the late Murray and Josephine (Barber) Gordon was born on July 29, 1931 in Chase, MI. Ruth was raised in Mt. Pleasant and Coleman, graduating from Coleman High School. On October 11, 1952 Ruth married Kenneth Cozat in Coleman. He predeceased her on December 15, 2001. Ruth graduated from Central Michigan University with her BS degree in education. She started her career as a librarian with the Coleman Schools and then taught school in Coleman with over 32 years of service, retiring in 1992. Ruth was an avid reader and most of all enjoyed her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Ruth is survived by her sons; David K. Cozat of Coleman, Gary E. (Mary) Cozat of Coleman; daughter, Faye Cozat of Lansing; grandchildren; Adam John Cozat, Lindsey Cozat, Brianna Rogers, Kelsie Cozat, Elizabeth Cozat, Cari Holzhei, Jamie Furst, Lena Scholter, Daniel Rynearson, Cathy Rynearson, Mary Rynearson, Cari Rynearson; seven great grandchildren; brother, Stuart (Janice) Gordon of Coleman; sister Marion, Straugh of Coleman. She was predeceased by a brother Charles Gordon.

Funeral service for Mrs. Cozat will be conducted at 11:00 am Thursday, March 1, 2012 from the Wilson MILLER Funeral Home. Interment will be in Warren Twp. Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 and on Thursday from 10:00 am until time of services. Memorials may be offered to the Midland County Fair Board.
