Russell D. Walker

January 15, 1942 — March 22, 2016

Russell D. Walker, age 74 of Sanford and formerly of Mt. Pleasant died unexpectedly on Tuesday, March 22, 2016 at his home.

Russell was born to the late Russell M. and Alma (Litweller) Walker on January 15, 1942 in Pontiac and was raised and educated in Ithaca. He was employed with General Motors for over 30 years, retiring in the early 1990's. Russell had owned and operated Oakview Mobile Estates in Mt. Pleasant. He enjoyed school sports, especially those that his grandchildren played. Russell's "green" passion was for John Deer Pedal tractors and equipment. He was an avid collector of John Deer toys which he also custom made. Russell travelled extensively to attend Toy Shows including the National Convention in Dyersville, Iowa; making many close and longtime friends.

Russell is survived by his wife, the former Carol Holka, whom he married March 9, 1995 in Clio; sons Mike Walker of Minneapolis, MN, Patrick "Ty" Walker, Scott Walker, Jeff (Jennifer) Taylor all of Phoenix, AZ; step sons Scott (Wendy) Szafranski and Traves Szafranski all of Linwood; -7- grandchildren Brandon, Courtney, Brooke, Corvin, Cy, Trinity and Isabelle; -2- step grandchildren Zachary and Jenna; brother Bill Walker; sisters Linda Foster and Patty Walker.

Funeral services for Mr. Walker will be conducted at 11:00 am, Saturday, March 26, 2016 from the Wilson MILLER Funeral Home with the Reverend Father Dan Fox, OFM, Cap. of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church-Sanford officiating. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Friday from 4-7 pm and on Saturday from 10:00 am until the time of service. Donations in Russell's memory may be offered to one's favorite charity.
