Russell D. Spangler, Jr.

Russell D. Spangler Jr. age 68 of Midland died Tuesday, June 28, 2011 at the MidMichigan Medical Center.
The son of the late Russell D. and Mary (Talbot) Spangler was born on January 24, 1943 in Saginaw and raised and educated in Midland. Russ served with the US Army during the Vietnam Conflict. He retired from the City of Midland in 1999 with 32 years of service as a heavy equipment operator. Russ married the former Leanne Holder-Haley on May 26, 1995 in Midland. He was member and Past Commander of the Sanford American Legion, the Honor Guard and a member of the Midland V.F.W. #3651. The family would like to thank all of the physicians and Regional Dialysis for their kindness, care and comfort given to Russ.

Russ is survived by his wife, Leanne; sons, Jeffery (Sara) Spangler of Midland, Thomas Haley of Midland; daughters, Michele (Chris) Robel of Midland, Sara Haley of San Antonio, TX, Nicole (Garrett) Hall of Midland and Juleanne Haley of Midland. He is also survived by grandchildren, Aliyah Spangler, Shannon Spangler, Christa Robel, Tia Robel, Maddison Hall, Cole Hall; great grandchildren, Jadyn Robel and Karsyn Robel; the mother of his children, Betty Spangler; and mother-in-law, Virginia Holder.

Funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 am Friday, July 1, 2011 from the Wilson MILLER Funeral Home with the Reverend Wayne Shidler officiating. Visitation will be on Thursday from 4 to 8 and on Friday from 10:00 am until time of service. Funeral Military Honors will be provided by the United States Army and the Midland Area Veterans.
