Ronald J. Bauer

Ronald J. Bauer, age 64 of Shepherd, passed away Monday, April, 17, 2017 surrounded by his family at home after a hard fought battle with cancer.

Ron was born on June 11, 1952 in Pigeon, MI, son to Robert and Aleta J. (Miller) Bauer of Elkton, MI. He graduated from Elkton Pigeon Bay Port Schools in 1970. He then attended Ferris State University, graduating with a Degree in Construction Technology. Upon graduation, Ron was employed by Gerace Construction Co. in Midland, MI for 9 years. In 1982, he ventured out to found RCL Construction Co. Inc. in Sanford, MI, serving as its President and CEO until his retirement in 2015. Ron was active with the Saginaw Valley Chapter of Associated Builders and Contractors, serving on the Board of Directors for several years and as President in 1988, as well as serving on ABC's State Board of Directors. Ron coached several years in the Sanford Youth Baseball League and Midland Youth Football League.

Ron was a man of many passions. He especially enjoyed wintering in Okeechobee, FL with his wife Elaine and their many friends, hunting trips out west with his two sons, Rod and Ryan, shooting pool, riding his Harley, antique muscle cars, and boating/fishing out of Harbor View Marina in Ludington with family and many close friends whom he met and touched over the years.

Ron was a selfless man, who even during his battle with illness was always more concerned about others and putting their needs before his own.

He will be deeply missed by many, including the love of his life, Elaine (Martin) Bauer whom he married on February 4, 1999; his parents Bob and Aleta Bauer of Elkton, MI; mother- in-law, Ardith Martin of Midland; sons, Rodney (Chasie) Bauer and Ryan (Amy) Bauer, all of Midland; step children, Leigh (LJ) Planer of Pleasant View, TN and Christopher (Deb) Rowe of Saginaw, MI; grandchildren, Braxton and Kensley Bauer, Mackenna Rowe, Rileigh and Brooklyn Planer, and Alicia Praay; His sister Gail (Ken) Lehman of Gowen, MI; brother, Dennis Bauer of Bay City, MI; and brother-in-laws, Richard (Chris) Martin of Orlando Florida and Leroy Martin of Midland. He was predeceased by his father-in-law, Donald "Gene" Martin, and beloved pet Buckie.
