Hope

Ronald W. Ault, affectionately known as Big Daddy, Big R, BVDV Dude, or simply Ronnie to those who knew him best, passed away peacefully on March 7, 2025, surrounded by his family. He was born on October 22, 1959, to the late Charles and Stella (Jozwiak) Ault.

A 1977 graduate of Arthur Hill High School, Ron built a life filled with laughter, adventure, and an undeniable love for music, sports, and time on the water. He married Lorraine Smith in 1994, and though they later separated, they shared 13 years together. In 2010, he married Jennele Thomas, his devoted wife for 14 wonderful years.

Ron retired from AT&T after 25 years as a Power Technician. Never one to sit still for long, he continued working as a transport driver for Rick's Auto Medical Transportation, where he found joy in meeting new people and sharing stories along the way.

His passions were as big as his heart. A devoted Michigan Wolverines, Detroit Tigers, and Detroit Lions fan, he never missed a chance to cheer on his teams. He loved bowling, golfing in the annual AT&T tournament, and above all, spending time on the pontoon, where he was the life of every adventure. Whether it was a sunset cruise, a lively gathering, or a spontaneous ride, Ron turned every trip into a memory worth keeping.

Ron had a way of bringing people together, whether he was helping you find your way across town, guiding you down a winding country road, or sharing his passion for 70s rock. Just like with directions, he had an uncanny ability to navigate music. He didn't just know the hits; he knew the deep cuts, the band members, the release dates, and the stories behind every song. A road trip with Ron wasn't just a drive. It was a rolling concert, complete with air guitar solos, shoulder dancing, and enthusiastic singalongs.

More than anything, Ron was a storyteller, a jokester, and a man with a heart big enough for everyone. He was always there with a helping hand, an unwavering sense of support, and a laugh that could light up the room.

He is survived by his loving wife, Jennele, and his cherished stepdaughters, Kenady (Nate Wannemacher) and Karsyn Sasse (Derick Cassiday). He also leaves behind his sister, Lory Ault-Mauro; sister-in-law, Debbie Ault; and son-in-law, Chuck Bohinski, along with his beloved nieces and nephews: Jason (Amy Becker) Bohinski, Kelley (Kevin) Peters, Kade and Kyler Peters, Marquise (Dave) Doyle, Alison (Jason) Mauro-Lantz, Aubrie (Zach) Nowak, and Colby (Celestina) Mauro. Also carrying on his memory are his father-in-law, David Thomas; sister-in-law, Jonna Thomas-Bloomfield; and niece, Kortnea Bloomfield, as well as many dear childhood friends and neighbors whom he considered family.

Ron was preceded in death by his siblings, Geri Ault, Rae Anne Bohinski, and Thomas Ault, along with his nephew, Greggory Wolfe, and mother-in-law, Margaret Thomas.

A special thank you to County Connection of Midland, Davita Midland Dialysis, and MyMichigan Wound Treatment Center for their exceptional care and for the friendships they brought into his life.
