Roland D. Hamburg

Roland D. Hamburg, age 78 of Midland, passed away Friday November 23, 2018 at Story Point, Independence Village. The son of the late Carl and Lucille (Rettinghouse) Hamburg was born in Centralia, Illinois on April 7, 1940. Roland had been employed with The Dow Chemical Company until his retirement in 1994. He enjoyed astronomy and photography.

Surviving is his wife of 54 years, the former Frances Putney whom he married on August 28, 1964 in Berkeley, California; son, Mark (Michelle) Hamburg; daughter, Jennifer (David) Kirby; grandsons, Max and Gavin Hamburg.

Per the wishes of Roland, cremation has taken place and a gathering time will be held at United Church of Christ 4100 Chestnut Hill, Midland 48642 on Thursday November 29, 2018 from 4 until 6:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider a gift to the Humane Society of Midland County.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Story Point, Independence Village, who cared for him over the past year and made every effort to make his experience positive. Thank you also to the staffs of Compassionate Home Care and Michigan Premier Hospice.
