Robert J. Young

Robert J. Young, age 81 of Midland died Monday, April 04, 2011 at MidMichigan Medical Center.

The son of the late Gordon and Gladys (Morrow) Young was born November 2, 1929 in Parsons, Kansas where he was raised and educated. Robert worked for the US Coast Guard for 21 years, then moved to Midland in 1977 to work for the Bechtel Corporation. After 18 years, he retired from Bechtel and became a self employed painter.
Robert was a Mason and belonged to the Scottish Rite in Green Bay, Wisconsin. He enjoyed golfing, fishing and playing cards.

Mr. Young is survived by his wife of 58 years, Lois (Backlund) whom he married in Grand Marais, MN on March 28, 1953; daughters, Sue (David) Ives of Midland and Lynn Tulachka of Green Bay, WI; seven grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and sister Suellen (Larry) Frame of CA.

Funeral and committal services will be held at 11:00 am, Thursday, April 7, 2011 from the Wilson MILLER Funeral Home with Reverend Ron Ives of Potter's House officiating. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Wednesday from 5-8 pm and on Thursday from 10:00 am until the time of service.
