Robert A. Thurston

Robert A. Thurston, age 70 of Midland, passed away on Saturday May 12, 2018 at MidMichigan Medical Center, Midland. The son of Maynell B. (Hancock) and the late Gordon W. Thurston was born in Midland on March 8, 1948 where he was raised and educated. Bob had been employed with the City of Midland until his retirement in 1985 after 17 years of service. He enjoyed bowling, playing cards and going to the casino. Bob also coached youth bowling for many years and was a member of the Midland Bowling Association.

Surviving is his wife of 50 years the former Kathleen M. Gonyea of whom he married on March 2, 1968; children, Sheri (Leonard Fischer) Thurston of Midland, Tesa (Dale) Perkins of Shawnee, Oklahoma, Daniel Thurston of Midland; grandchildren, Josh (Heather) Leonard, Alysha Leonard, Dakotah Fischer, Gaije (Justice) Emery, Doniven Emery, Kodie and Matyson Thurston; 6 great grandchildren; mother, Maynell Thurston of Midland; brother, Gordon William "Bill" (Donna) Thurston of Midland; sisters, Beverly (Peter) Welsh of Washington, Tammy (Mark) Kilbreath of Midland; many nieces and nephews and his Arizona Family at Superstition Lookout RV Park.
