Robert D. Peterson

Robert Dale Peterson, age 87 of Midland, passed away peacefully Sunday, May 18, 2025 with his family by his side at Candlestone Assisted Living. Robert was born in Midland on February 17, 1938 to the late Milton and Marion (Sutliff) Peterson. Bob worked for 28 years as a custodian with Midland Public Schools. He was a member of both the First United Methodist Church of Midland and the Sears United Methodist Church in Sears, MI.

Bob married Carolyn Ilene Moore and enjoyed 63 years of being together before her passing in 2021. Bob was devoted to his family and loved each and every one of them dearly. He enjoyed spending time at the Sears family property watching the wildlife and cutting wood, creating woodcrafts and making Christmas ornaments for the grandkids. He was a past Noble Grand of the International Order of Odd Fellows (IOOF) Lodge and a member of the Midland Antique Engine Club.

Bob was predeceased by his wife Carolyn.  He is survived by his children, Becky Haywood of Grand Rapids and Tom (Laura) Peterson of Midland; grandchildren, Daniel (Hannah), Philip (Alex), Stephanie (Josh), Eric; great grandchildren, Jonah, Claire and Emelia. Also surviving is his brother, Richard Peterson and brother-in-law, Don Eash.

The family would like to thank the staff of Candlestone Assisted Living and CorsoCare Hospice for their dedication and compassionate care.

Family will receive guests at the Wilson MILLER Funeral Home on Friday May 23, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Funeral services will be private with burial in Midland Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Bob's name may be offered to First United Methodist Church, or Youth Mission at 315 W. Larkin St. Midland, MI 48640.
