Robert E. Ostrander

Robert E. (Red) Ostrander, age 80, of Sanford and Berea Lake Towers Assisted Living, Berea, Ohio died April 13, 2015. The son of the late Clarence and Hazel (Bowen) Ostrander was born on November 18, 1934 in Midland where he was raised, graduated from Midland High School and attended Central Michigan University. He married Jean McDonald in 1955 and on April 16th they would have celebrated their 60th anniversary. Robert was a member of the Michigan Army National Guard for many years. He worked for Dow Chemical Co., retiring as an Instrument Technician.
Robert played softball, enjoyed golfing and was proud of his yard and many flower gardens and was an avid Tigers fan. He always looked forward to having the "gang" get together for family gatherings.
Surviving is his wife Jean; son, Kurt (Patricia) Ostrander of Strongsville, Ohio; daughters, Jill (Barry) Barden of Waterford, MI and Becky (Gary) Dunham of Midland; grandchildren, Mindy, Kelli, Rochelle, Ryan, Kyle, Melissa, Ashley, Jason, Joshua, Heather and Holly; and 16 great grandchildren.
Funeral services for Robert will take place 1:00 p.m. Friday April 17, 2015 from the Wilson MILLER Funeral Home 4210 N. Saginaw Rd Midland with Fr. Dan Fox OFM, Cap of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Sanford officiating. Interment will follow in Midland City Cemetery. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 5 to 7:00 pm and on Friday from 12 noon until the time of service.
