Robert J. Nankee

Robert J. Nankee, age 85 of Midland, passed away Wednesday morning October 4, 2017 at Stratford Pines Nursing Center, following injuries received in an automobile accident in July of this year. The son of the late Fred E. and Adeline (Kolberg) Nankee was born in Ludington on April 13, 1932 where he was raised and educated. Bob served in the United States Army. He attended Michigan Tech where he received his Bachelors of Science in Chemical Engineering in 1954. Bob then went to work for The Dow Chemical Company until retiring in 1992 after 35 years of service. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church for over 60 years, a Register Professional Engineer, a member of Kiwassee Kiwanis Club and The Jayvestor investment club. Bob enjoyed traveling, going to his cabin which he hand built on Mahskeekee Lake, riding his Jeep to The Beaver Pond. He was an avid Detroit Tigers Fan, enjoyed fishing and hunting, but most of all reading to his grandchildren and great grandchildren. On September 28, 1955 Bob married the former Jane C. Safford. She died in 1997.

Surviving are his sons, Robert J. (Cindy) Nankee II of Canton, Michigan, Seth (Connie) Nankee of Clarkston; grandchildren, Adam, Laura, Kimberly, Claire, Kevin; 5 great grandchildren; brother in law, Thomas Runkel. In addition to his parents and wife, Bob was preceded in death by his sister, Lois Runkel.
