Robert E. Hartley

Robert E. Hartley, age 84 of Midland, passed away Tuesday, September 13, 2016 at the Toni and Trish House due to an unfortunate accident that occurred at his home.

The son of the late Earl and Albina (Forgette) Hartley was born May 13, 1932 in Bay City where he was raised and educated. Bob graduated from Bay City Central in 1950 where he ran track and was ranked 3rd in the state. He served his country in the U.S. Army from 1952 through 1954.
Bob had many interests. For over 35 years he enjoyed collecting unusual beer cans. He worked at the Dow Gardens Butterfly House, volunteered with High School and College sports programs earning him a place in the Sports Hall of Fame and because of his volunteer work at MCTV he was also inducted the MCTV Hall of Fame.

Bob loved his family and friends very much and will be greatly missed by many.

He is survived by his loving wife, Dawn, whom he married in 1975; sons, Doug Hartley of Florida and Lloyd Hartley of Bay City; sister, Shirley (Lee) Martuch of Orlando, FL; mother in law, Dona Farison; Wendy Rowe, who was like a daughter to him; many nieces, nephews and friends.

A Celebration of Bob's Life will be held at 1:00 pm, Tuesday, September 20, 2016 from Wilson MILLER Funeral Home with Pastor Dave Anderson of the Midland Nazarene Church officiating. Military honors will be provided by the U.S. Army Honors Team and the Midland Area Veterans.
Visitation will be at the funeral home on Tuesday from Noon until the time of service.
