Robert Drake

Robert L. Drake, age 82 of Sanford died at the MidMichigan Medical Center on Monday, August 29, 2011. The son of the late William J. and Minnie P. (Fuller) Drake was born on June 26, 1929 in Midland. On October 19, 1951 he married the former Ida Johnson in Sanford.
Bob worked as a tank car cleaner for the Dow Chemical Co, retiring in 1983 after 33 years of service. Bob loved watching nature and playing with God's little creatures, but most of all, he loved his grandbabies and looked forward to their visits.

Bob is survived by his wife, Ida Drake and their children, Robert L. Drake of San Diego, CA, Gerald A. (Alicia) Drake of Sanford, Randall S. Drake of Arcadia, FL, Marilyn (Robert) Bergeron of Sanford and daughter-in- law Judy Rodemer Drake of MN; 12 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. Bob is also survived by a brother, Chuck Drake of Gladwin; sisters, Mary McLean, Julia Smith; and sister-in-law Dorothy Drake. He was predeceased by a son, Denny L. Drake, brothers, Walter, John and Lawrence Drake; and sisters, Josephine Norris, Joan Marr and Clara Bell Drake. He will also be missed by many nieces and nephews.

Funeral service for Bob will be conducted at 11:00 AM Friday, September 2, 2011 from the Wilson MILLER Funeral Home with Pastor Roger Saltee of the Sanford First Baptist Church officiating. Interment will be in Midland Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Thursday from 4 to 8 pm. and from 10:00 am until time of service on Friday. Memorials may be offered to the Sanford First Baptist Church.
