Richard A. Stowell, age 80 of Hope died peacefully on Tuesday, February 17, 2015.
The son of the late Richard M. and Berdina (Baker) Stowell was born on April 27, 1934 in Lansing, MI where he was raised and educated. Richard served with the US Army from 1956 to 1958. He married the former Linda Sheick in 1970. The boating and outdoor recreation industry was his passion. He owned and operated the Stowell Marine in Hope, MI where he was still active in the daily operation of the business at age 80. Richard built a hunting lodge at White Fish Lake, Canada where he enjoyed hunting and fishing and had a large collection of trophy mounts.

Richard is survived by his wife of forty five years, Linda Stowell and his daughter Kristine (James) Downs of S. Lyon Michigan. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his son Richard Stowell in 1995 and his sister Monalou Corp.

Funeral service for Richard will be conducted at 11:00 am Saturday, February 21, 2015 from the Wilson MILLER Funeral Home with the Rev. Lisa Cook, Pastor of the Sanford United Methodist Church officiating. Military honors are under the auspices of the Midland Area Veterans and the United States Army Honors Team. Private interment will be in New Hope Township Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 and on Saturday from 10:00 am until time of service.
