Richard Ray Smith

Richard Ray Smith, born on March 17, 1944, passed away July 12, 2026 in Georgetown, Texas surrounded by the love of his family. He lived a life marked by dedication, service, and deep devotion to those he loved.

Richard was born to Ray C. Smith and Ethel Mae Smith, who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Barbara Joan Smith, and his brother-in-law, Maurice Ranck.

He is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife, Susan Guidry; his sister, Bonnie Ranck; his grandsons, Dylan and Austin Guidry-Lair; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. Richard shared a special bond with his best friend and cousin, Mike Thornton, and was a devoted companion to his beloved dog, Frankie.

Richard proudly served his country with the National Security Agency during the Vietnam War, a service he regarded with great pride. Following his military service, he built a successful career with Rockwell International, where he was respected for his dedication and strong work ethic.

Those who knew Richard will remember his loyalty, quiet strength and unwavering commitment to his family and friends. He cherished the relationships he built throughout his life and leaves behind a legacy of honor, kindness, and integrity that will continue to inspire all who knew him.

Richard will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all whose lives he touched.
