Richard D. Gillette, age 76 of Sanford, died Monday afternoon October 18, 2010 at his residence. The son of the late Willis and Hilda (Fairchild) Gillette was born in Detroit on May 2, 1934. Richard was raised and educated in Grand Ledge. On August 25, 1956 in Lansing Richard married the former Adeline Shocknesse. Together they moved to Midland in 1966. He had been employed with Central Cartage until retiring in 1995 after 38 years of service. Richard was past President of the Sanford Eagles Lodge 3677, actively involved and current President with the National Association of Physically Handicap.
Surviving are his sons, Kenneth Gillette, Tony (Joy) Gillette all of Sanford; daughters, Phyllis Daniels of Sanford, Vickie (Grant) Marcoux, Cindy (Eugene) Spencer all of Coleman; 13 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; sisters, Joyce (Raoul) Perez, Lillian Eno all of Florida. In addition to his parents Richard was preceded in death by his wife Adeline November of 2009, son, Ricky Gillette, daughters, Joann, Ramona, Colleen; 2 grandsons; 1 great grandson; brother, Willis Gillette; sisters, Karen Rossilli, Kristina Gillette.
Funeral services will take place 11:00 a.m. Thursday October 21, 2010 from Wilson MILLER Funeral Home. Interment will follow in N. Bradley Cemetery. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8:00 p.m. and on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. The Sanford Eagles will hold a memorial service 7:30 pm Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be offered to MidMichigan Home Care.
