Richard LeRoy Blake, 89, lifetime resident of Midland, died Friday afternoon, May 5, 2017, at Brittany Manor where he has received wonderful care for this past year. Richard was born June 3, 1927 in Midland, the only child of the late Roy and Mary (Weaver) Blake. He grew up on his family farm in Midland learning many skills that carried through his entire life. His greatest passion was hunting and looked forward to that every season. He enlisted in the Army September 1945. For 67 years he has been married to his sweetheart, June Gay. They were married September 10, 1949 in Midland. Richard was employed by Consumers Power Company retiring in 1974.


Richard is survived by his wife June; daughters, Diane (Rodger) Keel of Bonita Springs, FL., Kathryn Schultz of Midland; grandchildren, Scott (Carla) Soper of Manistee, Martin (Donna) Ordiway of Reeves, LA, Richard (Kathy) Ordiway of Sanford; great grandchildren, Kayla (Ordiway) Cory, Mason, Madison, Maverick Ordiway, Blake Soper, Cole and Hannah Ordiway; great great grandchildren, Jordynn, Brooklyn, Hazel, Maddox.


In accordance with Richard wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no other services. Interment of his ashes will take place in Midland City Cemetery. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider a charity of their choice in Richard's memory. Arrangements are under the care of Wilson MILLER Funeral Home.
