Raymond C. "Ray" Walker

Raymond C. "Ray" Walker, age 71 of Midland, died Friday evening June 29, 2012 at MidMichigan Medical Center. The son of the late Harry and Edna (Birchard) Walker was born in Lansing, Michigan on June 22, 1941. Ray had work at The Dow Chemical Co. as a Journeyman Multi Craftsman until retiring in 1995 after 30 years of service. He was a member of Gordonville United Methodist Church where he sang in the church choir. Ray enjoyed singing, especially with the Men of Music.

Surviving is his wife of 48 years the former Helen Zechiel of whom he married on May 9, 1964 in Keeler, Michigan; son, Scott (Becky) Walker of Portage, Michigan; daughter, Stephanie (Troy) Steere of Eaton Rapids, Michigan; grandsons, Harrison, Benjamin and Joseph Walker; sisters, Ruth (Ron) Klump of Midland, Lois (Rick)Watts of Fairport, New York; many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents Ray was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Walker.

Funeral services for Mr. Walker will take place at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday July 3, 2012 at Gordonville United Methodist Church. Rev. Tom Schomaker and Rev. Lyn Frazier will officiate. Interment will be at 1:30 p.m. in Midland City Cemetery. Family will receive friends at the Wilson MILLER Funeral Home 4210 N. Saginaw Rd Midland on Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8:00 p.m. and at the church on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
