Raymond Eugene Noykos, age 72 of Midland, passed away on March 20, 2010 in Florida while on vacation with the love of his life Janet (Nagel) Noykos.
The son of the late Henry and Sharma (Clay) Noykos was born April 12, 1937 in Fostoria, Ohio. Raymond served with the U.S. Marine Corp and fully believed in their motto "Once a Marine always a Marine." On September 8, 1962, he married the former Janet Nagel in Midland.
Raymond was a pipe coverer and insulator retiring from Local 47 in 1995 after 35 years of service.
To the ones that loved him, he was better known as "Flaming Raymond". He loved to fish and loved teasing everyone that came along. He was a devoted husband, father, friend and '˜grampee'. There wasn't a thing in the world he wouldn't do for his family. He was devoted to attending any school function for his grandkids and loved spending as much time as possible with all of them, always making it known how proud he was of them and their accomplishments.
Mr. Noykos is survived by his wife of 47 years, Janet; son,
Russell (Melissa) Noykos; daughter, Judy (Philip) Manteufel; two granddaughters, Maria and Rachel; grandson, Henry; and one grandchild to be here soon; sister, Barbara Lowery of Everett, Washington; brother, Duane Noykos of Michigan; half sister, Marla of Michigan; sister in law, Jeanne (Larry) VanOrden; brother in law, Thomas (Debbie) Nagel; nephews, Jeremy and Ted Nagel, Steve and Todd Lowery; special cousin, Mariam "Squeek" Cappell; and many other nieces and nephews. Raymond also was a father figure to Jeffery Stuckmann and many others.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his son Richard; and all of his in laws.
Funeral services for Raymond will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, March 27, 2010 from St. John's Lutheran Church with Reverend Daniel Kempin officiating. Interment will follow in Lee Township Cemetery with military rites under the auspices of the Midland Area Veterans and the U. S. Marine Funeral Honor Guard.
Visitation will be at the Wilson MILLER Funeral Home on Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm and at the church on Saturday from 10:00 am until the time of service.
