Rayma J. Weiger, age 87 of Midland, the best grandma in the world, died on Thursday morning December 23, 2010.
The daughter of the late Raymond and Janet E. (Nowland) Dorrance was born in Mackinaw City, Michigan on September 29, 1923 where she was raised and educated. She had been employed with Dr. O'Hora as a receptionist until retiring in 1989 after 35 years of service. Rayma was a member of First United Methodist Church, enjoyed baking, bowling, gardening. She was an avid reader, loved animals and being with her grandchildren.
Rayma leaves behind her husband of 66 years, Frank Weiger whom she married on March 11, 1944 in Mackinaw City; daughter, Connie Ley of Midland; grandchildren, Nicholas and Heather Ley both of Midland; brothers in law, Jerry Weiger of South Carolina, Bob Weiger of Midland; sister in law, Betty Pickering of Midland; special niece, Shirley Brown; nieces and nephews, Jean (Gary) Keiser, Ervin (Melody) Barrett, Janet Grawey, Tom Dorrance, Brent (JoJo) Cosens; best friend, Howard (Linda) Countryman;and many great nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Rayma was preceded in death by her brother, Thomas Dorrance; sisters, Joan Cosens and Launa Barrett.
Funeral and committal services will take place 11:00 a.m. Monday December 27, 2010 from Wilson MILLER Funeral Home. Rev. Dr. Lisa McIlvenna of First United Methodist Church will officiate. Interment will be in Midland City Cemetery. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 4 to 7:00 p.m. and on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
